This is a pairing of two corporate titans to tackle a key “knowledge economy” project – the better development of electronic medical records. This article in the Wall Street Journal describes only a small step in the form of better automating data collection from home health monitoring of blood pressure and blood sugar levels, but every step forward is important. Not too many years from now paper based record keeping of health related data may seem as archaic as writing computer code on paper cards that have to be run through a card reader for the computer to execute them seems today.
