The President’s National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NACIE) met today in Chapel Hill at the Keenan-Flagler Business School of the University of North Carolina. This was the Council’s first meeting outside Washington, DC. It was a very interesting discussion lead by Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, Chancellor Holden Thorpe, and NACIE Co-Chairs Steve Case, Mary Sue Coleman, and Desh Deshpande.
Governor Bev Perdue even joined the group to talk about how much the State of North Carolina is doing to develop innovation and entrepreneurship. It was an excellent exchange of ideas and the general sentiment was that the time was right for this group and its mission. The Department of Commerce press release summarizing the meeting and linking to the Secretary’s remarks can be found here.
Also, Chancellor Thorpe’s Office has posted a video (just over 5 minutes) of Steve Case and Desh Deshpande talking about innovation the night before the meeting.
