TORONTO – Israel’s trade minister has some advice for Ontario’s next Premier. Education is key to building a knowledge-based economy, Shalom Simhon told the Toronto Sun during a visit to the city last week. And so is research and development. Israel spends more than any other country in the world on Research and Development, an investment that’s allowed the arid, resource-poor nation to become “a global powerhouse for innovation and technology,” said Simhon, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Labour for the Jewish state.
