To create jobs South Africa needs skilled people to start their own business or make a meaningful contribution to the companies employing them – which all boils down to having a skilled workforce. While we talk about university education and the importance of becoming a knowledge economy, there are still many unemployed graduates. So clearly we are missing something. I believe that the something is hands-on, practical experience. The recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Microsoft is surely a step in the right direction. Rest
