Probably lots of things but one of them clearly is scientist Eric Schadt, the new Chief Science Officer for Pacific Biosciences (PacBio) and co-founder of nonprofit Sage Bionetworks. I learned this from a recent NYTimes article about Dr. Schadt, but almost immediately decided I needed to read more about PacBio and Sage at their websites. PacBio is focused on single molecule DNA sequencing (as are Helicos, Bionanomatrix, and others I’m sure) and Sage is creating an open access, integrative bionetwork evolved by contributor scientists working to eliminate human disease.
